Ducks don’t climb trees

The boys had an appointment at the groomers this morning so we made some coffee and headed to Forge Valley to check out the bird feeding station.

We saw a fine array of birds, various tits, chaffinches, nuthatch and a robin. We then spotted a flash of colour in a distant tree - woodpecker we thought. I took a few shots then checked the viewfinder and was amazed to see three Mandarin ducks, two males and a female. Glad I took my big lens.
