Poor man's rose?

I have two peony roses in my front garden and have always felt a wee bit sorry for the way they're referred to as the poor man's rose.

Their petals may not form the perfect shape of their "rich" relatives but when they're in full bloom I think they look every bit as delicate, and the blend of shades in their make up actually presents a more arresting colour.
