Buds and blooms

Took the hound for an early walk as OH was out much of the day and I planned to do some garden work.

Had to do some trimming and sawing off branches that had been victims of the heavy snow and wind.  Filled up almost two wheelie bins.  Worked for about two hours in the morning and about half an hour after lunch.

Thinking we're not likely to have another fine quiet day decided to read in the garden.  Brought Kyro out and using the as yet unused very long lead which I secured to a strong branch.  I gave some length for him to move about and still had his lead to hold.  Rationale for securing him was that if or rather when he caught sight of a squirrel, cat or fox he couldn't get far and hurt himself. 

At first Kyro wouldn't sit down on his bed which I'd brought out.  There were too many distractions, aeroplanes, birds and music at first and he got tired of standing and lay on his bed still vigilant.  At one point he bolted towards something behind me but was stopped by the lead from doing any damage.  He then settled more easily.

Second walk late afternoon. 

Rain is forecast tomorrow.  Looks like a typical bank holiday Monday.
