A million seedlings….
….or at least that’s what it feels like!
This morning we had another workday at the Butterfly House and community garden.
My first job was to plant some new Pentas plants inside the BH for the butterflies to feed on. At least the one remaining Mexican Blue will have something to keep it going.
Outside in the garden we have a massive problem - thousands and thousands of sycamore seedlings must have had the perfect conditions for germination as we have a complete blanket of the little sods seedlings all over the garden floor. It looks quite pretty actually, but since we don’t need them, they all have to come out. So we spent a good few hours between us this morning pulling them out. And it hardly feels like we’ve made a dent in it!! Plenty more hours will be needed to break the back of it.
After a couple of hours, I had to leave as I needed to decorate a pavlova I made last night to take to Mum and Dad’s for Easter Sunday lunch - roast lamb - delicious. Spent the rest of the afternoon discussing holidays with them. Happy days.
