Hypochondriac cat?
Yesterday I noticed that Thor, our ginger cat, wasn’t looking too good. Cut on his ear and bad limp on his back leg left and very listless. Obviously miserable and not interested in food - unheard of!
Managed to get hold of him and attempted to get him in the carry box. At which point everything went wrong. Somehow he managed to shove the box out of the way and get away from me. Adrenaline is an amazing thing and, despite hardly being able to move a few minutes before, he was off like a shot. Spent the rest of the day trying to catch him with the vet on standby by waiting to see him. Unfortunately he disappeared into the byre and we lost him. The vet then reserved an appointment for us on Saturday morning with the hope that we’d be able to catch him.
This morning Thor was no where to be seen but bizarrely Loki has now developed a limp in the same leg. Unlike his brother Loki was very keen to get in the box and go to the vet. Part of me suspected he was just wanting a day out and some treats but as we had an appointment we took him to the vet and it turns out he has an abscess in his hip. (Loki really does like going to the vet, very strange.) The vet reckons that the cats have either been fighting with each other or more likely having a turf war with passing cats.
So he’s now home and having scoffed his meds in some horrible smelly cat yoghurt stuff then settled down for a snooze in the box. He wasn’t very impressed when I chucked him out.
Thankfully we managed to locate Thor later in the day and tempt him to eat something (including painkillers) and he’s doing a bit better. Hoping that we can get him through the weekend and then get him to the vet…. assuming we can get him into that dam carry box.
