Pete the pigeon

He’s a homing pigeon that’s got lost and is currently lurking on our patio. We got the owner’s phone number off the ring on his leg. Norm rang the owner who said he can’t come for it as he has no transport. My friend who keeps pigeons says that’s a favourite excuse if they don’t want the bird back. We got the ID number off the ring on Pete’s leg and tried ringing the guy again. He’s blocked Norm’s number so I rang him from mine. Now he says he can’t get Pete until Tues. (aka never) . My friend said take Pete to a field more than a mile away and throw him upwards. Pete just came down and wandered about. The second suggestion was take him to a churchyard where there might be mates. He’s now strolling around the graves at a nearby churchyard. Our patio has rather a lot of bird dirt on it now after 3 days. We did give Pete water and seed before he went on his holidays.
