In the Boulder Beach bushland I photographed this Lewin's Honeyeater. They are common along the length of the east coast and ranges, with a distinctive 'machine gun rattle' call. They are named after John William Lewin, an English settler, explorer, naturalist and artist who came to the Sydney Cove colony in 1800. He wrote, illustrated and published books on birds and insects.
