I was due for a blood test this morning, and Archie assumed he was going out too when I put my jacket on. I couldn’t say no to his wee expectant face, so I took him with me. I’ve done this before, and left him tied up outside - blood tests are generally on time, in-and-out, so no long waits.
But as we sat at the bus stop, being a little bit early, Archie spotted Pip and his mum across the road, on their way to the graveyard. And what a racket he kicked up - hysterical howling, crying, barking. I had to explain to passers by that it was because he’d seen his friend. And so, Archie went into the graveyard with Pip, instead of being tied up outside the doc’s. I shouted Abi a coffee in the cafe afterwards, and then she took him with her round the Meadows. Bonus!
I checked out some of the Science Fair activities (Nicola Sturgeon cancelled her appearance at one event today - wonder why…) and it looked like there was LOTS happening in the Museum. So I got the bus there and walked back (6,613 steps)
a) to try out my new shoes (GOOD!) and
b) to listen to Sam Neill.
I’m SO enjoying this. He’s recounting wee stories of his life in New Zealand in the 70s and 80s - names of places, people, films, politicians that I’m so familiar with. He’s an amusing raconteur, but every now and then he’ll recount something very sad, and I have to walk along the street snivelling, hoping nobody notices.
The Museum was full to bursting with children of all ages (school holidays) and in the big central hall, there were exciting things set up for the kids, with microscopes and experiments and Lego type things for toddlers. Wonderful place. I always have to pop to see my favourite wee item. (Extra)
