When I was a young ‘un I worked for a hairdresser’s wholesalers in Hertford and we delivered shampoo, conditioner, setting lotions, hair spray, scissors, brushes etc to all the barbers and hairdressers shops in the area. The pay was terrible, but it was the best job in the world for meeting girls. My wife was a hairdresser. I got her a pair of scissors that she’d ordered and I wrote “To Hilary, with love xxx” on the back of the box.
I took her out the following weekend and we ha ve been together ever since.
