Fabric shop
Went to work this morning as usual only to find out that I had to go to a funeral. One of my colleagues mother in laws had died. As I knew both daughters of the deceased, I felt I had to go with many of my other colleagues.
In Malawi funerals take a long time. We went to the village and sat for 3 hours in the scorching sun before the funeral began. As usual men were all together in one place and women in another. After the service at the home where there were hundreds of people, we marched to the graveyard through fields of dry maize and beans to the burial site. This took another couple of hours in sitting on the ground in the field in the sun! Came home tired and hungry but so glad that I had gone!
On my return I had to go and buy some fabric to make a couple of curtains for my boy's quarters as someone is coming to stay next week and it never had curtains!! So I went to one of the local markets to this stall and bought some fabric. I asked if I could take a photo and the lady said yes but she would not look at the camera and this is the best one I got! Its a colourful end to rather a sad day!!
