facing the day

It is cold and foggy today, so the light is very flat and so is my mood.
But I can't help but smile when I see the bright little house finches waiting in the tree by the bird feeder.
I especially like the way the breast feathers on this male seem to capture whatever ambient light there is.
Now I am looking forward to a day indoors catching up on some reading.
