Words and paintings
It seems only fitting to use my new quality lens on a quality painting.
When I was recently doing 60-second video bites of 11 of Paul Larson's paintings to put on his Vimeo channel, I had to slowly move around the painting with my video camera. It was at that moment that I began to see his work in a deeper light than I had done before. By focusing on sections of his paintings, I realized that there was even more beauty in his work.
This blip is one example.
I am somewhat biased because I own the painting 'A Ghost In Reverie'. The words scored into the painting are taken from my song Seattle Mornin'.
I think this is the first time ever that a painter and songwriter have collaborated in this way. Yes, artists of different mediums can and do collaborate but not to the extent that the collaboration involves one creative medium literally merging with that of another.
