Tim and Olive

You came six weeks early fifty three years ago today. I remember looking at you as I held you and trying to think how I could remember how small you were. Being my third child I realized how quickly we forget such details. It finally occurred to me that you would fit comfortably in a shoe box. Now you are a grown man and also the tallest member of the family!

We took you home from the hospital to a chaotic household. You had to be kept isolated from Matthew who had the chicken pox. You were so small that you couldn't maintain a safe body temperature so you spent your first days in a hot room with a heating pad under the mattress of your basket.

That must be how you developed your steady outlook on life, your certainty about your goals and your wry sense of humor. You are a good father, a good brother and a good son. We love you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TIM!
