Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and the Trinity - Indian rope man (1969)
Streetnoise was the last album I played from the new box set Far Horizons. It was recorded by Giorgio Gomelsky in two weeks early in 1969 and released that July. Shortly afterwards Julie Driscoll went solo and Brian Auger formed the Oblivion Express. Julie Driscoll was clearly changing direction and debuted some new songs including two solo performances on which she accompanied herself on acoustic guitar. She and Brian Auger had both previously been in the band Steampacket and before that she had been Giorgio Gomelsky's secretary and was in charge of the Yardbirds Fan Club, a band he managed and produced.
This has become my most played song from the album and is more in the traditional style of the band. It was written by the great Richie Havens. A slightly modified and herbally refreshed version of the song was recorded by Bob Marley and the Wailers as African Herbsman.
