Birthday and Boat Burning
In that order.
An earlyish start, which saw Jon, Mollie, Henry and I heading to Cambridge at around 10. Too early for a Saturday for most of us. We collected Allison on the way, who lives just outside Cambridge and joined most of the rest of the family at Jon's mum and dad's I'm Melbourn. We were there to celebrate Levi's first birthday (family prefer him not to be photographed - hence you get his back) He is a cute little thing who is just walking now. He enjoyed all his new presents - lots of colourful things, which he delighted in bashing and throwing about!
It was nice to catch up with the family over lunch. We compared our individual knitting projects. Everyone was impressed with Henry's complicated bit of self taught knitting!
We left at just before 5, and drove back through dismal rain. We got to Sheringham at 6.45 where we stopped to get fish and chips. There, we waited for the viking parade. The boat was already down on the beach with most of the people, but we saw the parade of vikings with their lit torches, then followed them to the sea.
With no prospect of getting very close to see the actual burning of the boat, we stopped high up, then once it was lit we turned back to miss the crowds going home. All feeling tired so heading to bed now.
