Gardening day

Planting seeds, pruning, and sowing camomile on what was a dry patch of lawn that will not grow much in the summer when it’s too dry. Although one reason it did not grow was the amount of cock chafer larvae that lived under neath! I moved them all to the bird table where someone will be having a feast. Explains the big holes I have everywhere on my lawn when this someone has been pecking to get the grubs out.
Listening to a podcast on wilding a lawn and making it very wildlife friendly. Which means mowing less, and increasing diversity for all the bees and insects which are having a hard time on the striped uniform carpet-like variety (not that I ever had one!)
I felt I had to make an extra effort to open up a refuge because my neighbour just had a plastic lawn installed. Oh my….
