The last of the snow
We woke up to sunshine and snow falling, it was crazy weather. Then it started raining but we knew if we waited half an hour the weather would change again.
After breakfast our friends packed up and then we went for a walk along the river that runs through the village, before taking them to the station to get the train back to Zurich. Once they were safely off we went for a coffee at our favourite cafe.
We met a friend in the village who told us that at this time of year there are many frogs mating and tadpoles in the ponds so we went for another walk to look for them. We saw lots of frog spawn but no frogs. We walked along the stream near the apartment and Xena was delighted to find that the path was still very snowy. This will be the last of the snow we see until next winter. She is very alert here watching Gavin further down the stream looking for frogs.
Back at the apartment I made food for the car journey tomorrow, and starting clearing cupboards and sorting the fridge. I need to pack as tomorrow morning we plan to leave very early for our long drive home again. It has been a lovely break, it has been good to have a change of scenery even if the weather was so unsettled.
There is still much snow on the top of the mountain for the remainder of the ski season. The locals tell us that it has been a good ski season for them as despite the lack of snow in the village there has always been excellent snow up the mountain. Today is the start of the ski club ski race training week, our boys did this week every year for about 10 years. It was such great fun for them and they made many friends who they still are in contact with today.
