Old Railway, Shandon

Instead of heading straight back along the canal I decided to re-route to  run out and back along the old railway line behind the Shandon colonies.  Merchiston train station was here until 1965 when it was demolised and the track bed became a footpath. 

We had an entertaining visit from our friend Margaret in the afternoon. At 86 years old she has a memory of Edinburgh spanning back decades.
