Busy but social
This is a late posting.
After breakfast this morning we gathered up items for recycling and took them to the collection points. We also delivered one last (I hope) small bag to the charity shop. I sorted out the drawers under the vanity unit in the bathroom, discarded what really didn’t need to be kept, and pulled out items that we’ll need on our trip and when we return. There is still last minute sorting to be done on Tuesday morning, but we’ve broken the back of that task. We also gathered together a few more items for our trip.
MrMacD has been busy emptying pot plants into the compost, cleaning out the pots and drying them in the sun. He hates discarding plants but they’d more or less finished for the season and it had to be done. Afterwards he cleaned the balcony they’d been sitting on and it’s looking good. Another job done.
I started folding up clothes to be packed for the move while MrMacD printed out the receipts relating to the refurbishment and items that remain with the apartment, such as the dishwasher, oven, hob and microwave. They’ll be put with the instruction booklets for the new owner.
After all that was done we hopped on a bus to Kohimarama to deliver some frozen chillies to a friend who’ll make chilli jam with them. Then the three of us hopped on a bus into the city and went for an early dinner at Mezze. Then we walked down to the SO/ Hotel for a drink. I had envisioned having a drink in the bar in the lobby where the big chandelier is - see my post of 3 March (https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3078430127491649068), but that bar was closed so we had to go to the 16th floor, which did have a good view and some interesting lights, but the music was pounding out so loud we almost couldn’t hear ourselves think. From the hotel we crossed the road to Giapo where we met two other friends for ice cream. Giapo is not your usual ice cream shop - their strap line is “normal ice cream is boring” - (https://www.giapo.com). There are multiple choices for the cone or container to hold the ice cream, several ice cream “flavours” and multiple toppings, or bases for that matter. It’s a lot of fun and the ice cream is delicious. Stupidly, I forgot to take photos - next time! It was an enjoyable, fun evening.
I did manage to grab a photo of a hang glider coming in to land on Vellenoweth Green at St Heliers as we whizzed past on the bus, then overhead decorations on a little lane we walked by on our way to Mezze, and lastly a couple of photos from the SO/ Hotel.
