There's Still a Vacancy
Sophie had arrived early for her interview; from her previously submitted application we could see she was potentially overqualified, she has impeccable references. Obviously, the position was advertised in 'The Lady' (where else?).
Unfortunately, whilst she was in the anteroom, she met Scullion. Being his Friday afternoon break, and after having been to the bookmakers for cook, he was smoking a large cigar. He was wearing his smoking jacket, but that was all. It explains the screams we heard whilst searching the Billiard Room for Lord Dunbeath's bagpipes (don't ask).
When it seemed the self-sealing envelope of credibility couldn't be stretched any further the Current Mrs Creel left to play badminton in Dounby. She also popped in past the Care Home to see my mother. She found her relatively on the ball except for two incidents. She informed CMC that she, and all other residents (including Hercules the cat) had recently been across for a visit to Paris. Whilst she was tidying my mum's chest of drawers she found a cup of water. It had obviously been there for some time.
I blame the parents.
