Bird's-eye Primrose

Before leaving Silverdale this morning to travel south, I managed to get some shots of Bird's-eye Primrose, Primula farinosa, one of the rare plants I associate with the area. It was interesting to see the much more common Primroses and Cowslips filling all available spots in the surrounding landscape, while this delicate little flower was opening on just a handful of plants growing in very particular conditions, where lime-rich water percolates through peat at the edge of Haweswater. I'm so pleased I saw it flowering before having to leave this magical place.
