Verity
After a walk to the Weir first thing, we went to Lynmouth then on to Ilfracombe as the weather wasn’t promising for a long walk .
I hadn’t been to Ilfracombe for years and we had difficulty locating the harbour. I wanted to see the Damien Hirst Statue ‘Verity’ . Parts of Ilfracombe are sadly very faded and run down but the statue is magnificent. It represents an allegory for truth and justice . I was taken with the books of law she stands upon. It is made of bronze and was tested to withstand the winds and seawater spray which it could be subjected to.
