Life's Little Moments

Monotone Tough Guy

Surely one of the most endearing of our backyard birds, never failing to bring a smile.  And not a huge leap to transform to monotone since they are rather monotone shades of blueish gray, white and a dash of pale rufous under the wings.  To be honest, I didn't have much photo mojo today.  Not quite warm enough for insects to photograph but plenty warm enough for insects to eat meaning that the feeders were a little slow.  I tried some shots of the visible moon but they were all crap.  So thank goodness for an accommodating Tufted Titmouse!

I took advantage of sunshine and comfortable temps to do some clean up in the garden and dig up a few clumps of phlox that had escaped.  Jax was very happy to lay on the deck and supervise.  Felt good to have my hands in the dirt!

Hubs is making his way back to NJ and should be landing in Newark a little before 5.  Taking into account time to get bags, the long treck to pick up the car and then a 55 mile drive home...he should be here by 7:30.  Where he will be warmly greeted by two cats, one dog, and a very happy wife!

Dark with peppermint today - just one square...so far...
