Through the Window
Today's words in the May HeartFreek Photo Challenge are Through the Window. Our son and daughter-in-law's Christmas present to us was lunch at The Jetty, the restaurant attached to Christchurch Harbour Hotel, so we decided to use it today and I thought this would make a good blip.
Sadly the sun didn't come out much, but it didn't rain, and as we were sitting at a table in the window, we had a good view of Christchurch Harbour. We watched the tide go out and saw lots of black headed gulls pecking around, but sadly no waders or other interesting birds. The top photograph is taken "through the window" - in the middle of the photograph you can just see a man digging with his hands - not sure what for, but it was interesting watching him!
We had a fantastic lunch:
As a starter I had Alex's Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé with glazed Dorset Cheddar Cheese and Mr HCB had Pigeon Breast with lentils, chilli and mango salad.
Our main courses were - bottom left:
Trio of Pork - Tenderloin wrapped in ham, pork belly and hogs pudding with creamed cabbage, fondant potato and a mustard and Burley cider sauce and bottom right:
Halibut and Weymouth Scallops - blanquette of halibut and hand dived Weymouth scallops with tempura Poole Bay rock oyster and caviar.
The desserts we had were:
White Chocolate and Marscapone Tiramasu with cappuccino ice cream and
Lemon Meringue Baked Alaska with raspberries.
All this was followed by coffee - the whole experience was fantastic and we can thoroughly recommend The Jetty. We went for a walk outside afterwards, and still didn't see the sun - but the food made up for that.
It's a Fasting Day for me tomorrow, so I can live on the memory of today!!
Special thanks to Martyn and Dawn - you did us proud!
