New Shoes?

I popped in our local riding stables to buy some chicken pellets this lunch time and was pleasantly surprised to see the Farrier at work.

I've never seen how a horse gets new shoes so I asked him if I could watch.

It was so fascinating to see him work. I learned loads about the qualifications, apprenticeships, tools, nails, the lots.

Every 8 weeks this particular horse needs new shoes, but it all depends on the surface the horse is ridden on.

Andy loves his job and loves working with horses. It's so inspiring to watch and listen to someone who is so contented with their lot.
