There is an air of change around blipland, and cats are psychic.

It seems that one of the resident moggies thought it might purrruse my bookshelves today, and rather than find something suitable for a cat to read, she instead made a mess of things. Books and papers everywhere. On top of the pile was a publication called An Independent Streak which was published by the Illustrators' Partnership of America in 2001 to coincide with the second Illustrators' Conference. This was held in Santa Fe, USA.
I had forgotten about it so I did a quick flick through the pages and saw my name listed amongst the contributors, and then memories came flooding back into the small confines that once housed an even smaller brain.

I received a phone call from Brad Holland [probably the biggest name in Illustration world wide] who commissioned me on behalf of the IPA to write an article for a book he was putting together to be published in time for the up coming conference. The general theme of the conference was about change, and how changes have impacted on the profession, particularly whose relating to copyright, craft, education and fashion.
I then went on to became a regular contributor to the IPA's official magazine.
How could I forget that!
Quite clearly I am losing the plot and need a holiday.

Change is happening all around us everyday. Things are never the same for long. What is important is to accept that changes will happen whatever we feel about them. It is a universe that is out of our control. What we can control is our reaction to those changes and our ability to find a grass seed snagged in our sock and invent velcro.
