Coot and chicks

We took a walk in Lydiard Park today, and I had the choice of foals, although looking at the other horses in the field , there will be a lot more to choose from over the coming weeks, or some baby ducks, but have chosen this picture of a coot with some of his/her chicks.

Both parents were there, but this one kept diving under the water for food and then as soon as it surfaced the young were there to be fed. Obviously knew what they needed and wanted to give good gifts to its children.

Reminded me of the reading at church on Sunday from Luke 11 where it says:-
" If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

The parallel passage in Matthew's gospel says
"how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him"
