Controversial Coleslaw

I treated myself to a baked potato from the Shop on Cockburn Street for lunch and instead of going for my usual veg curry filling I tried something different - fruit coleslaw. I was surprised to find cubes of cheese in the coleslaw though and, this being the social media age, shared my surprise with my Facebook friends.

Two of my friends had what I consider unfairly harsh responses, along the lines of "Yuck", and two others didn't seem inclined to believe it was actually coleslaw. Blimey! Who'd have thought my lunch would provoke such reactions?

Anyway, to clear matters up it's definitely coleslaw. It's shredded cabbage and carrot with red onion, celery, raisins and apple, as well as the cheese, dressed in mayonnaise. Very delicious it was too.

A Waldorf salad contains apples and celery, yes, but traditionally includes walnuts and, if I remember the Marks and Spencer salads from my youth correctly, Florida salad is the one that usually has orange in it.

It's just as well I didn't mention the guacamole hiding under the coleslaw. Who knows what might have happened!
