Shepherding

The Shepherd
How sweet is the Shepherd's sweet lot!
From the morn to the evening he strays;
He shall follow his sheep all the day,
And his tongue shall be filled with praise.
For he hears the lamb's innocent call,
And he hears the ewe's tender reply;
He is watchful, while they are in peace,
For they know when their Shepherd is nigh.
William Blake

A gorgeous day, we set out for a big walk - the Barnageehy loop. You start off high , go higher then descend squelchily, all the time in magnificent wild landscape, the grasses blond and the trees greening. We ate our lunch on a stile and admired the view, accompanied by a slightly tattered peacock butterfly. It was a day of sheep - they had of course never seen humans before and were astounded wherever we went. Why do sheep instantly pee whenever you look at them?  Note the interested onlookers as Himself climbs over the stile, we had been followed rather stealthily. Some were quite bold. With horns. And there were lambs.
Back home, I planted my purchases from the market so the polytunnel is now looking a bit more respectable with some lettuce, spinach, peas and beans in evidence.
A very enjoyable day.
