Mini Road Trip

Saturday short road trip: home, to Corvallis, to Albany, to Salem, to home. We stopped at one of our favorite garden centers, Garland’s, for blood meal and bone meal for planting our onions, and picked up this garden art. This is a depiction of the Green Man, an ancient guardian of the forest. Green skinned, and covered in foliage, he is an ever-present symbol of rebirth, rejuvenation, and the life and death cycle of nature. His job is to keep the woods wild - to preserve the sanctity of the forest (plants, trees, rivers, animals) that are threatened by our modern advancements.

Our soundtrack on our three plus hour road trip included these artists: Mark Knopfler, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Bruce Cockburn, Tom Petty, Tommy Emmanuel, Jackson Browne, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin, John Prine, David Gilmour. The final full song was Emmylou Harris covering the Townes Van Zandt song, “Pancho and Lefty.” A great Saturday road trip with my favorite road tripper.
