Loch Einich

What an amazing day. Last night I arrived by train & had time to cycle for 90 mins before dark - in the kind of rain which felt like someone is throwing buckets of water at you. I was so wet I never thought my kit would never be dry ever again. I was a bit gloomy thinking that today would be the same. But no!

The hostel drying room had worked its magic and I was on the bike (and walking) for 11 hours. Wet only from puddles and river crossings - no rain! The picture is a morning pit stop at Loch Einich. Walked the last 3 miles from the metal bridge as the rivers were high & I couldn’t (and shouldn’t) drag the bike across. I spent the rest of the day following forest trails by Lochs and did a circular out by Boat of Garten. Returned by the picturesque off road track looking to the Cairngorm plateau and saw a deer.

I shall be sore tomorrow no doubt but I had a fine day adventuring in the Cairngorms so it’ll be worth it.
