History
The little sod cottage (it was a home) I photographed earlier was owned by a Mr. George Botherway. It had two rooms and an outside oven for cooking.
His wife died young in childbirth and he lived to a ripe old age.
He never remarried and their headstone and grave are in the Pleasant Point
Cemetary.
The land was then bought by the family who still own it, and the house I blipped on 30th April, which is over 100 years old is the only one of two that were on that land still standing and being lived in. There is a new modern home built where the second house stood.
It is good to get the history of places you see and wonder about and I was thrilled when Jenny told me this story.
