Send a smile and show you care

Funny ole day today.

Last night I baked my butt off.

I was feeling quite dreadful, but it was T's birthday at work and we all wanted to make the effort.   Himself had to come and help me in the end I had made such a mess, and  I was totally exhausted

T was just overwhelmed and completely delighted with the banners, the cakes, and the little gifts we had for him.   His parents live abroad and it's been years since his birthday was "celebrated".

I had also made an additional cake for my colleague J.

J introduces me to everyone he brings into the office as our "office Mum, and resident Couch therapist".

J happily arrives, and I happily welcome him to my office and we discuss all sorts.  We put the world to rights and then get back on with it again.

J has been biding time this week, waiting on a passing.   We've all known it was coming,  he' has been slowly failing.     J  thought maybe Wednesday.    I text at lunchtime to see how all was going and J messaged back. "the bastard wokeup and now he's doing a cross word".   Ooh, how we giggled.

But last night he passed, and I made one of J's favourites for him and his wife and sister-in-law.   He was very delighted and waved his brown paper-wrapped cake for everyone to see..

A little email arrived from T thanking everyone for their singing, best wishes and gifts.    Unprompted and heartfelt.  That made the baking effort worth the while.

And then another mail arrived.

"thanks for what you do.  You make things a little better for a lot of people".

I like to think that everyone does.  In their own way.
