Scottish Parliament: Queensberry House
I do like the Enric Miralles architecture of the new, and more often photographed, parts of the Scottish Parliament but Queensberry House is the part of the complex which anchors it in Scottish history. It is some three hundred years older than the rest of the Parliament buildings, dating from 1667, and was the setting for the signing of the Treaty of Union between Scotland and England in 1707 - the then Duke of Queensberry being a major proponent of the treaty.
Ironic then, if appropriate, that it is now incorporated into the new Scottish Parliament, famously reopened by Winnie Ewing stating "The Scottish Parliament, adjourned on the 25th day of March in the year 1707, is hereby reconvened".
