Magnolia Stellata

When I was in Pollok on Tuesday there wasn’t one blossoming Magnolia bud ….. some white tips but no flowers.
Today there are plenty of flowers but many of the droopy white petals are already showing tinges of brown and the closer to the flowers you get the more noticeable the blemishes.

The trees sit on a level below the formal garden. I had to do quite a bit of poking about as I searched for a blemish free flower and eventually went up the short flight of steps to the parterre garden where I was able to get a better shot from above the tree which only about two metres tall.
