Relics from another age

One of the 15cm calibre long guns mounted at the top of Noirmont Point in WW 11. Immediately after the war these fortifications were covered with earth and left for the plants to grow over them. 50 years later they were dug up and put on show to any passer by.
A reminder of the past and a warning about what could happen again.
Pretty wet afternoon but we were back at the cottage before it got too bad.
