How can you tell when all the cats are asleep?

We managed to squeeze in  a birthday dinner with No.1 tonight, in between her going out last night (her actual birthday) and having friends round (to her mother's) on Friday and Saturday. She's relatively recently found out she's dairy intolerant so was very excited that a local wine and pizza bar offered vegan cheese on everything. The waiter was very confused when she ordered a vegan pizza, with extra sausage.
