Another white blob

After yesterday's white blob that I claimed was an Iceland Gull, today among other birds I bring you another white blob, this one I'm claiming is a Snowy Owl.

We decided to start the day at Ardivachar Point with the sun behind us we hoped for better views of possible fly-past Skuas. Well we did get the photographed Arctic Skua that was sat on the beach and then flew towards us, but that was it apart from a flock of around 50 skuas, but all we knew of that was when a birder came up and asked if all those skuas were Arctics? We'd missed them completely I'd been looking at the shore birds and Mrs L had been mending her binoculars. Hey ho, mind you he hadn't spotted the yesterday's white blob Iceland Gull which was on the beach today, so we gave him that.

Back to the cottage for lunch and check if there were any notable sightings - Snowy Owl at Grenitote! A lifer that we'd missed out on last year and although it had reappeared this month on the 13th, 14th & 15th it'd not been reported since then. In fact we had a look for it ourselves on the 19th with no luck. As you can see from the montage distant views of the white blob were achieved. On the way home we were on the lookout for Red-necked Phalarope, again we'd been looking on the 19th with no luck and again as you can see our luck altered today.

Quite chuffed with today's haul - top left, Arctic Skua; top right, Snowy Owl; bottom line, Red-necked Phalarope.
