A Very Long Day

Let me preface this with the staff and doctors were absolutely wonderful and extremely nice to be around.  (I guess they need to be since the patients were getting grouchy as hell because of the long wait)I had to have an endoscopy today.  Of course my appointment for the procedure wasn't until 3:40 but they said to be there at 2pm, so the rule was a clear breakfast before 8am- for me that consisted of my usual coffee because I drink it black and a glass of water.  I also had not eaten any solid food since 7pm the night before at dinner.  The hubby drives me there (because you have to have a designated driver to drive you home), we wait, get called in for a bit of paperwork and to show ID and insurance card, we wait again.  They call me back into the prep rooms at 4pm - and guess what, after putting on their smock and them getting an IV in,  I wait some more (this procedure is only about 20-30 minutes),  they wheel me back  at 6pm for the procedure.  We didn't get home until 7:30pm - 5-1/2 hours.  I had soup and was in bed by 9pm.  What a day - and thanks for letting me vent a bit.
