The Fly

The common housefly is believed to have evolved in the Cenozoic Era, that's 66 million years ago, most likely in the Middle East. Without going into too much detail, the female housefly mates only once in her short life, storing the sperm for later use. She can lay up to 500 eggs in her lifetime, which is 15-30 days.
