Glorious day of sunshine here, and I decided not to take the MayDay holiday and save it until later! Idiot. I made it until 4.30 before giving up on the office and heading homeward. At the park at the bottom of our road, people lay strewn on the grass with books and magazines, or propped themselves up on one elbow to chat in groups, or played Frisbee. I felt like a drab guest walking past them all in black work clothes, so the first thing i did when i arrived home was change into shorts and a vest top! M was out with the lifeboat, and as i arrived at the beach i saw him leave the harbour in the sun, the boat standing out like an orange beacon. I resisted buying an ice cream for all of about 3 minutes, then sat with my cone and spoke to Mum on the phone for nearly an hour, watching the sea and taking the occasional 1-handed photograph. When i saw M coming back in on the lifeboat, i half-ran as quickly as i could to Fittie to get a photo. I missed them by literally 5 seconds... Annoyance. They had been out with an ex-lifeboat member whose Dad had also been on the crew; the father had recently died and the son wanted to spread the ashes at sea. It had all been filmed for the next series of the Aberdeen-based program, The Harbour, and M said it was a lovely occasion, with the Port Chaplain saying some words and tje beautiful weather ensuring calm seas and stunning views. I think the family were delighted to have had the opportunity to spread the ashes at sea. It was M who set it up, so he was really pleased.

When we got home, we ate leftover spiced chicken from the BBQ yesterday, and watched Masterchef and Britain's Got Talent. Had a lovely evening, I do hope this weather sticks around!
