Arrived early

…. so time to wander slowly, camera in hand. This statue is of Arthur Sullivan (Gilbert and ..)

I was fascinated and somewhat amused by the distraught lady clinging on to the plinth. Wikipedia not terrifically forthcoming but does offer this rhyme:

Why, O nymph, O why display
Your beauty in such disarray?
Is it decent, is it just,
To so conventional a bust?
