Patients are welcome!
I started my day with a trip to Newcastle for an outpatient appointment. It was a routine follow up with the psychiatrist who makes sure I'm keeping well.
The General Hospital used to be a huge place with all sorts of departments. The neurosurgery and oncology were here and were centres of excellence.
Slowly the hospital has emptied and many buildings have been demolished. The inpatient psychiatry unit remains, as does outpatients for mental health and old age.
Despite all the waste ground, it is well nigh impossible to find somewhere to park. The car parks are mainly for staff. Staff? What are they all doing, since most of the place has gone.
I had to park a long way from the outpatient department and I was taken by this sign alongside one of the many boarded up windows.
After the "welcome" the rest of the notice is not at all friendly especially if you can't find anywhere to park!
I came home and then returned to Newcastle where Mum saw the eye surgeon about her dry eyes. He has made a few changes to her drops so we are still on the hourly regime.
We are both exhausted!
