Van Gogh
Saturday 18th March 2023
The aim was to have a quieter, less packed, day with a walk and lunch out. At first we couldn't decide where to go but then chose York. Not wanting to go in any attractions but wanting a purpose, we downloaded a Treasure Trails walk - The Clifford's Tower Spy Trail.
We caught the Park and Ride Bus, which dropped us at Clifford's Tower, which was beautiful with all the daffodils around it. We then set off on our mission, to save York from being miniaturised by Baron Ivor Grudge. It was an interesting walk, which even took us to the grave of Dick Turpin, somewhere I hadn't been before - see extra.
We paused for lunch at a lovely Italian restaurant, then continued our mission. Part way through the second half we came across the Van Gogh Immersive Experience, set up in a church. As I had heard how good it is we deviated from the mission and went in. A lovely 35 minutes of beautiful music as we explored the paintings, then a 9 minute virtual reality walk "into" the paintings. It was quite an experience.
We did then finish the mission and cracked the code to deactivate the miniaturising device, so York is safe! :-))
And that was supposed to be a quiet day!
