Mountain Children
When the ball gets rolling, it really gets rolling! Out today in Cwm Idwal again, and this time, taking a much more active role, teaching glaciation and the post-glacial environment that you can see at the site.
That said, the first thing we did was to visit the farmer, Buck, who works all of the land around Cwm Idwal and Tryfan. Buck is great. Welsh as a love spoon, with the most friendly of spirits, he told us all about life up in the hills as a shepherd, while in the background his grandchildren played on the rocks that lie in the valley bottom.
Back up the top of the valley, it was my turn to take the reins, and I played 'glacial I-spy', which went down well. Later, I explained the formation of the moraines that can be found at the Cwm. Very happy, and the day goes so much faster when you're doing more than following and assisting with slow children who hate the outdoors.
