Pohutukawa

Thought to be more than 500 years old and the last remaining pre European Pohutukawa in the region this is a magnificent tree only part of which shows in the photo. I’m the mid 1990’s a major split out occurred and a propping system was installed to help stabilise the tree and aided its recovery. It is hoped that in time the tree will make new roots and stabilise itself.
