Grey Heron
Luckily I forgot the fish this morning and had to return home to collect it. By the time I got there there was a gap in the dog walkers and the young male was waiting at the edge of the water. I immediately started feeding him and took a quick picture. He was chased off by the youngish female but landed at the edge slightly further round. I fed the female then gave the young male a good feed. I then split the remainder between them.
I was surprised to see that the male was showing breeding colouring Pinkish) around the beak and a deeper colour to his eye. He most certainly won't be breeding this year and I was unaware of seeing this before. The extra is the young female, you can see the paler eye on her and negligible colouring on her beak.
As usual the crows got their biscuits! Even they seemed more at ease!
