Caen Hill (Sunday 12th March 2023)

This was my second trip to the Caen Hill flight of locks in 2023, and followed a shopping session. I'd seen a few swans on the Crammer pond but there were none around here, just a couple of mallards. I walked from the café up to the road bridge and back but there was little going on and it was dull and raining. There was no narrowboat activity, unsurprisingly, but a few signs of life on the moored boats.

I saw some possibly wild primroses and tried to photograph them at close range but the lock arms were too close to the wall to squeeze past so I had to shoot from the other side of a fence in the café gardens (in Extras, also some catkins).

I've been offline for a couple of days because I tried to upgrade my anti-virus protection but the new software removed the old and then wouldn't install properly, leaving me unprotected, due to my aged operating system. Fixed now.

My pick from this morning's Cerys Matthews Show on Radio 6 is this 'Oldie but a goldie', a single that I used to own on the UK Tamla Motown label. Surprisingly I have only ever posted one other Velvelettes track here. This was their biggest Top 30 hit in the US national chart but didn't make the charts in the UK. It had an afterlife as a floorfiller in the Northern Soul and Mod dance clubs a few years later.
