Who knew...

...that beneath the stage at the KS lies a hidden history?!!

Today I was lucky enough to get a behind the scenes tour of the KS theatre. When I say behind the scenes, I don't just mean backstage, I mean below stage. A feat of German engineering lies beneath the boards we tread, a revolving stage that also tips. I've been crawling through spaces, between wires and over goodness knows what but it was an amazing afternoon.

To, quite literally, top this off, I also went 20m above stage, up in the rigging. It wasn't for the faint hearted as the 'floor' was a metal grid mesh where we could see the props and scenery below.

There is also a rumour that there were a couple of Jews hidden up in the roof space during WWII. Names and dates painted on the wall have been left visible after recent renovations.

What an afternoon, I do love the theatre and there's one person that gets the blame for bringing me back to it...!!!
