The Meadow

......... it is in the centre of the village and was once just an ordinary meadow. Many years ago the person who owned it left it to the village for everyone to enjoy.
On the left is the garden of remembrance, then a bit further along on the left ( although out of sight in this picture ) are several well tended allotments, to the right ( again, out of sight in the picture ) there is a collection of about 10 nut trees, further along on the right there are three large silver birch trees near where they light the beacon on special occasions and beyond that there is a small wildflower patch and a tap with running water for the allotment holders to use.
It’s all maintained by volunteers and funded by the parish council and is kept in excellent order.
It’s a lovely place to wander through and is very well used - I think it was a really generous act to leave it to the community ....... these days they would probably want to just build more houses on it - thankfully ( and hopefully ) that will never happen ;-)
